On 17th July 2015, Team GB faced France in a crucial quarter finals match on the path to determine the greatest tennis nation in the world.

The first of these matches was between GB’s James Ward and the inform Giles Simon, who previously had just reached the Wimbledon quarter finals.

Ward ranked 93rd behind Simon 11th needed some help, so decided to incorporate some flashy tennis socks into his uniform.

The Tennis Match

Moving the story on, James Ward battled hard, hit some good shots and ran around with his athletic body. However Giles Simon really is a strong player these days with a remarkable technique. Sadly in the end the tennis socks were not quite enough and Ward lost 4-6, 4-6, 1-6….but..

However…. there is a good final ending to the story, where team GB prevailed against France, 3-1 matches. They are now through to the semi finals to face Australia. Well done GB Tennis!
